Golang Job: Full Stack Software Developer - Greater Vancouver

We are looking for full stack software developers to join our Engineering team here at WISI, developing carrier-grade video transcoder products as well as cloud-based customer-facing systems and on-premise back-end systems.

This opportunity is open to exceptional candidates based in the Vancouver area with a minimum of 7 years of experience developing both on-premise and SaaS enterprise software.

The Role:

WISI America develops high performance video transcoder products which are relied upon by cable/video operators to deliver video to their subscribers. We have an engineering team focused on developing these carrier-grade products to a CMM Level 4 degree of process maturity and rigor. We also have cloud-based systems which allow those cable/video operators to manage their equipment (download firmware upgrades, manage equipment licenses, etc). Those customer-facing systems must interface with the operator’s equipment as well as with WISI’s internal business systems and data stores.

Successful candidates for this role will be expected to participate in the development of our video transcoder products as well as the customer-facing systems and internal business systems and data stores. Candidates will be passionate about technology and have experience developing both API-based products and graphical products using GCP, protobuf, React and JavaScript, using Python, C++ and Golang.

You will:

• Collaborate with other software developers to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain SaaS and on-premise applications on Linux, as wel as browser-based user interfaces for video applications on embedded targets.
• Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code.
• Design and implement tools and processes to rapidly iterate and continuously release software.
• Produce well-organized, optimized, and documented source code.
• Develop repeatable scientific test methods and tools for performance and load testing of company products and prototypes and quality assurance initiatives.
• Analyze test results to identify issues and opportunities and characterize hardware and software performance to aid in business planning, new product discovery and product improvement.

Required skills and experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• 7+ years of professional experience in enterprise-grade software development
• Expertise developing browser-based graphical front ends and REST APIs that are actually being deployed into a production environment
• Expertise using Git, Linux, Python, C++, JavaScript and React
• Expertise using OOP design patterns, best practices and continuous integration.
• Passion for quality and writing solid, readable code that performs at web scale

Bonus Skills:

• Expertise using Docker & Golang
• Working knowledge of video/audio codecs and streaming protocols including MPEG-4 AVC, HEVC, HLS, MPEG-DASH, Dolby Digital
• Working knowledge of video broadcast standards (ATSC, DVB , NTSC, PAL)
